My team is gaining weight (that is a good thing)

So over the past few weeks, I have been working, perhaps feverishly at times, building my team and the website. It is a fun throwback to my days doing theatre production, though I think I have improved my management skills since then. The project has the fun zipping of ideas back and forth with everyone excited and at the same time a more mature professional attitude about getting it done. This must be why people get addicted to startups.

The team has grown to more than I can count on my accessible digits and the level of skill and creativity is excellent. But enough of my gushing, heck they aren't likely to read this till well after this has proved its merits or not.

We have an excellent mockup of most of the site. Very detailed user submission forms and the new database should be quite flexible and robust enough to handle any impending popularity. There I just jinxed it. We have a flexible server architecture and the right people to impliment it, and I think it just plain looks good. I will be popping some screen shots up soon and taking requests to become members soon. Email me at info@tomorrowish.com if you are interested.

Awesome Development Meeting

Over the Labor Day weekend. We actually labored quite successfully on the database design and ironed out a whole lot of generalities to some concrete somethings. It is a horribly difficult thing we are doing, and one of those, 'If it was possible someone else would have done it already." things.

'Enlightened Self Interest' is the catch phrase of the day. I remember when I was very young that was one of the key ideas my dad always came back to about why people do the things they do. Now I get to put the idea to the test.

Stay tuned for the next few weeks when I will be asking for submissions for the private alpha.

Been Quiet Quite a While

Back on Stage With Lots of Work Behind the Scenes.

I haven't posted anything here in quite a while. At least I avoided a full year dead of updates. Lots has happened though. I have hired a web developer Joe Baz at Above the Fold. He has been excellent to work with so far and we are moving towards making the site available as a closed Beta soon. Hopefully a meaningful amount of time before the presidential election. I also have an expert database guru Mike Caprio out of Brooklyn. He is a long time friend and and excellent developer who seems very excited about the information architectures we are developing for Tomorrowish.

On the business side I have incorporated Tomorrowish LLC and received the trademark on Tomorrowish. We have bank account and a real line of credit. These may seem like little things to some of you but it is like building a house and making sure all the details of the foundation are properly in place.

The actual site will no longer be based on Plone, as my python skills were not up to the task. We are going back to a PHP/mySQL based site design. I have learned not to try to do everything and how to delegate tasks to experts that are far better suited to them.

What Is Tomorrowish?

Now the fun stuff. What is all of this for anyway. Tomorrowish will be a Prediction Scoreboard and Tracking site. We will track the public predictions of political pundits, technology 'experts', business analysts, Hollywood rumormongers, and maybe even a sports enthusiast or two. The goal is to learn who makes good and bad predictions and provide accuracy scores for all those people who get paid to, theoretically, know what they are talking about. As a bonus everyone who provides input to the site will gain their own accuracy and trustworthiness scores. So by succesfully pointing out the flaws of famous pundits, you might yourself become a famous pundit. The primary goal is to have a better way of knowing who to listen to and who is full of hot air.

I hope you will stick around as we develop this fun site and I promise it will be here sometime Tomorrowish.
